Water-Steam Cycle Monitoring, CCPP Emsland, Germany

The engineering highlight of this project has been the automatic hot blow-down for all water-steam samples, including HP steam and drum water. The used pneumatic valves are designed for 593 °C and 185 bar. They are controlled and monitored by local PLC.

 

The Emsland power plant is one of the world's most advanced combined cycle power plant with a net power of 850 MW. It has two units and is scheduled for load following and frequent start-stop operation. 

 

Degassed Cation Conductivity

During startups, higher cation conductivity values may be tolerated for a short time provided that they are increased by CO2 and not by dangerous contaminants. In this case, a measurement of degassed cation conductivity is indicated since the influence of CO2 on cation conductivity can be determined.

 

AMI Deltacon DG

SWAN’s analyzer AMI Deltacon DG is especially designed for this application and is installed in the Emsland power plant. Thus, results of the steam quality are quickly available and startup times can be reduced. -

Engineering Highlight

To minimize operational costs an automatic hot blow-down for all water-steam samples, including HP steam and drum water has been developed. The used pneumatic valves are designed for 593 °C and 185 bar and are controlled and monitored by local PLC.Another special feature is the back-pressure regulation for constant sample feed pressure to instruments. 

 

Modular Concept

Two identical double sided racks for each HRSG and 1 double sided rack for common lines (feed water, make-up water and condensate) were designed. For an easy maintenance the sampling system is mounted on one side and the analyzing part on the other. The sampling and instrumentation were pre-assembled and pre-wired for a minimum on-site work.
